Salou. Costa Dorada. 23 May 2026. The opening of the Sabor Salou 2026 gastronomic fair has broken all previous records. The Jaume I promenade was completely packed with locals and visitors eager to enjoy the offerings from the fair's 56 stands and the world's longest charity tiramisu.
The creation of this giant dessert, spearheaded by Salou chef Edu Cuesta, was a resounding success. It generated massive excitement, drawing long queues of residents and visitors at both ends of the tent where the final touches were put on the tiramisu, all of them eager to try the sweet treat.
Measuring 20 meters in length and weighing 510 kg, the tiramisu was divided into 2,000 portions and sold at a symbolic price of 1 euro per serving. All proceeds were donated to local organizations: the Salou Red Cross, Caritas, and Eluzai. The tiramisu was crafted using hazelnuts and ratafia. To create the dessert, Cuesta collaborated with the Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Salou (AEH).
During the opening ceremony, Edu Cuesta expressed his gratitude for this collaboration and recognized former councillor Maria José Rodríguez for her involvement in Sabor Salou. He also thanked Ricard Font and Quim Font, noting that the latter was the person who originally taught him how to make tiramisu.
For his part, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, praised Sabor Salou as "a great gastronomic showcase" and remarked that the event once again positions the municipality as a culinary benchmark.
Granados also gave special thanks to the Salou chefs who made the giant tiramisu possible, highlighting their dedication, talent, and teamwork for a charitable cause, as well as their commitment to promoting the municipality's gastronomy
