Costa Dorada. February 12, 2013. The second edition of the Ultra Trail Gold Coast Mountains is presented with important news about the release of last year, as it will be the first race of the 2nd Catalan Cup races Lafuma FEEC-Ultraresistència as it held on 6 and 7 April last year when the test was conducted in September.   Another new feature is that the two distances (the Mountain Ultra Trail Half and Gold Coast) qualifying races will be participating in The North Face Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc 2014 (Chamonix), one of the most prestigious races in the world . The winners of these races will get 1 and 3 points, respectively, to help get the 7 points needed to participate in the French race.   The third change is the increasing number of participants. The first edition of last year set a maximum of 250 participants was reached, and therefore the most this year is set to 500 participants. Registration opened on January 17, and from then until today 317 people have already signed up, so the organization thinks it can reach up to 500 riders expected until 25 March, when is the deadline for registration.   Keep in mind that 52 percent of those registered come from outside the province of Tarragona. In addition, brokers usually accompanied and they spend an average of $ 100, so that the expected economic impact of the Ultra Trail is around 50,000 euros approximately.   The Mountain Ultra Trail of the Gold Coast consists of 4 different mountain running distances so that each rider can find their own space: Ultra with 90km of uphill and 4.790m (D +), which is performed in a maximum of 24 h. This race fits the new route of the "Route of Refuges." Another race is the Half, 46km and 2.800m with D + (which should be a maximum of 12h) with arrival and departure Vilaplana Prado and Trails around the town of Prades 2 distances (20 or 10km), and is open to walkers. The Mountain Ultra Trail of the Gold Coast has to start and finish the iconic village of Prades, with a circular, while the Half comes from Vilaplana, which ends in Prades. The race takes place in a privileged environment in Catalonia, Costa Dorada interior, passing through places like the legendary Mussara, the pools, Siurana Mont-ral and Capafonts, among others. This test is organized by the Mountain Section of the Association of Cultural Vilaseca and produced by specialized Naturetime, and has the support of the County Tourism Board Gold Coast Mountains, the Regional Council of Lower Golf and municipalities in the Prades Mountains and Montsant through which runs the race.
