Salou festival 2019: 30 years of segregation

Salou. Costa Dorada. 21 October 2019. The biggest festival that Salou celebrates each year in October has a special significance for this year because 30 years ago the segregation of Salou and its constitution in an independent municipality of Vila-seca. The culminating moment was October 30, 1989, when the Supreme Court issued a ruling favorable to the constitution of the municipality of Salou. Since then, and to commemorate this historical event, the capital of the Costa Dorada celebrates the main festival around October 30.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of segregation, the Cultural Services area of ​​the Salou City Council has organized more than forty activities, including the planting of 30 trees, one for each year of the birth of the municipality. The act will take place on October 30, on the Paseo of the same name, in the Emprius area.

That same day, at 11 am, you can also enjoy a popular breakfast at Passeig Jaime I, by the Friends of October 30 Association. On the main day of the Festival, a religious ceremony will be held, in the Church of Santa María del Mar and, later, the festive elements will star in a parade that will link with the great popular paella that will take place in the Manuel Albinyana Park, at the price 2 euros per person. Tickets can be purchased from Monday, day 21, from 10 am to 2 pm, in the Department of Culture of the City of Salou. After the meal, we will proceed to the traditional rocket launch, and there will be an orchestra dance. At the end of the day, a fireworks castle will take place on Passeig Jaime I, and dinner on October 30.

The program of the Fiesta Mayor begins on October 21 at 8:00 p.m., in the Torre Vella de Salou, with the proclamation by the well-known salouense actor William Miller.

On Tuesday, the 22nd, children and young people will be the protagonists of the 18th edition of the October 30 Awards for Children and Youth Creativity, which will take place at 5.30 pm, in the Auditorium Theater of Salou (TAS) .

Likewise, the Salou Cultural Services area has organized a set of events to promote local culture, such as: "Dance the dances with chocolate", with the participation of the Ball de Bastoners; the Ball d'Espases and the Ball de Pastorets de Salou, which will take place on Friday, October 25, at 6 pm, in the Plaza del Carrilet, and with a final chocolate. The same 25, at night, the Coral Eixàrcia and the Ama-lur Basque Choir will offer a performance at the TAS, at 20 hours; and, later, at 10 pm, a Mulassa showcase will take place. Sardanas will also be held on Saturday, the 26th, at 12 noon, in charge of the Catania cobla and the collaboration of the Sardanista Contrapunt d'Onades de Salou Association; and the fire parade, at 9pm.

It is worth noting the 'vermouth of courtship', an event with performances of the elements of the festive courtship of Salou, which will take place on Sunday, 27, from 12 to 14h, in the courtyard of the Municipal Library; and the presentation of the Baile de Panderos, a new element that adds to the popular culture of the municipality, which will take place on the same Sunday, at 6 pm, in the Plaza del Carrilet.

The great party of the eve of October 30 will arrive on Tuesday 29, with the 'Festifoc', a festive parade, which, at the rhythm of charanga and batucada, will accompany various elements of the procession on a night tour that will leave the City Hall and will end in The old town The event, which will begin at 9 pm, will feature the Devils, the Morena, Xaloc, the Atabaladors, the Mulassa and the Txaranga.

As for sports events, on Sunday, the 27th, the IX Open of Dominó Vila de Salou will be held, by the Domó Salou Club.

On Thursday, October 31, All Saints' Day Vigil, zombies will meet in the streets of Salou to enjoy the Great Halloween Night. The concentration of the parade will be from 7:30 p.m., in the Plaza del Carrilet, and will have as an essential rule, to go in disguise. That same afternoon, at 6 pm, a makeup marathon will be made to be as characterized as possible during the most terrifying night of the year. Remember that, on the 28th and 29th, interested young people will be able to go to the Masía Tous Youth Center to learn a set of choreographies for the zombie parade, with the help of New Style-Dance School.

On the same Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the smallest of the house can approach the Plaza del Carrilet to enjoy the Fiesta del Panellet; a day with creative workshop, animation show and popular chocolate to celebrate, in a playful way the Castañada with the Xic'S Club.

On Saturday, the 26th, starting at 10:30 am, the Salou Municipal Public Library will celebrate its 27th anniversary with a literary party dedicated to a literature classic: Tintin. Thus, throughout the morning, workshops, exhibitions and visits to a mobile Planetarium will be carried out, by Cel Obert.

The Library will also host, on Monday 28, the presentation of the first poems by the young Ainoa Rodríguez, "More than words", at 5 pm; among other activities.
