Major winter festival 2022 for all ages without the Coso Blanco
Salou. Costa Dorada. 30 January 2022. From February 1 to 7, Salou will celebrate its Winter Festival with various activities especially designed for the little ones, although the program has the notable absence of the Coso Blanco, since the majority of the participating groups decided to suspend it due to the COVID situation.
On Tuesday, February 1, the opening speech of the festivities will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Auditorium Theater of Salou (TAS), by the artist and creative Mariano Vázquez Matarranz, also known as 'Mariano 1.85' . Previously, Pubillas and Hereu de Salou will be presented at the same TAS. Access is free and on a first-come, first-served basis, until capacity is reached, which is limited. Next, in front of the TAS, you can enjoy the great fireworks that will kick off the Fiesta.
Cultural events
On Thursday, February 3, the exhibition of local artists from Salou will be inaugurated at 7:00 p.m. in the Torre Vella. It will be open until March 5, 2022, from Monday to Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
On the same day, at 10 pm, at the TAS, you can enjoy the show 'We love Queen', with the songs of the most spectacular rock band of the 20th century. To be able to access, it is necessary to have an invitation, which can be purchased, free of charge, at the Theater offices, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Friday, the 4th, the sports program 'Què t'hi jugues!', by SER Catalunya, with Sique Rodríguez, will be broadcast at 12 noon from the TAS Costa Daurada Room.
In the afternoon, there will be choral singing performances in the street with the Ama-Lur Basque Choir and the Eixàrcia Choir, in honor of Santa Águeda. The route will be as follows: at 7 pm, through the streets of the Old Town; at 7:30 p.m., in Via Roma, in front of the Municipal Market; at 8:00 p.m., at the corner of Berenguer de Palou street, with Via Augusta; and at 8:30 p.m., at the Via Roma roundabout, with c/ Barcelona.
On Saturday, February 5, starting at 9 in the morning, the matinees will be held, with the participation of different groups of grallers, accompanied by the festive groups of the municipality. At 11:30 a.m. the parade of the festive procession will take place, leaving Plaça Bonet, and going through c/ Barcelona, ββc/ Francolí and up to Plaça de la Pau, where at 1 p.m., the show-off dance will take place . In the afternoon, at 6:30 p.m., the Txaranga Bandarra Street Orkestra will perform through the different streets of the municipality.
Finally, on Saturday, the 5th, at 7:00 p.m., you can enjoy the performance of the Maravella orchestra, in the Salou Center Pavilion. Access is free and on a first-come, first-served basis, until full capacity is reached.
On Sunday, February 6, the XXXV Trobada de Gegants will take place, at 11:30 a.m., departing from Plaça de la Pau, going through c/ Francolí, c/ Barcelona, ββto the roundabout with Via Roma; and back along the same route. Once again, in Plaça de la Pau, there will be a joint dance of the Giants, at 1:00 p.m., with all the participants.
At night, at 7:00 p.m., the beasts of fire, the Xaloc and the Morena de Salou, will meet, together with the invited groups, in the Via Roma square. They will go through c/ Barcelona and c/ Francolí, to Plaça de la Pau, where they will do the final dance.
Finally, at 9:00 p.m., you can enjoy the pyrotechnic show, in C/ Abogado Gallego, at the height of the TAS. It will consist of an aerial mascletada, which can be seen from the entire municipality, safeguarding social distance.
Salou Library
To celebrate the Winter Festival, the Municipal Public Library of Salou organizes a set of virtual activities: the festive ActiviJOCS, from February 1 to 5. They will consist of tests, in virtual format, to play with the festive elements and have a good time, getting to know the giants and beasts of the festival. This activity can be followed through the Library's social networks.
On Wednesday, February 2, at 6:30 p.m., you can enjoy, in person, the literary gathering with M. Lluïsa Amorós for her novel 'Els nens de la senyora Zlatin', within the framework of the Reading Club of the Group of Gifts of Salou. Free activity.
Activities for the little ones
The Department of Childhood is once again launching the Fira Xic'S, with attractions and lots of fun, on Passeig 30 d'Octubre, on the corner of Calle Tarragona, until February 7. On Friday, February 4, at 6:00 p.m., children will be able to buy cotton candy at the Fira. And, on February 6, there will be a chocolate party, at 6:00 p.m. Stocks will be limited.
In addition, the boys and girls who are members of the Xic'S Club will be able to enjoy a free trip on Saturday, February 5, to the attractions of the Fira. They must pick up their ticket at the Espai d'Infància Estació del Carrilet, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Invitations are limited. And, on Monday, February 7, as the last day, the Xic'S Rebates will be held at the Fira, where all the attractions will have the same price1.5 euros, the trip.
On Friday, the 4th, at 5 pm, you can also enjoy the show 'El show de Coco y Pepe', by Cantajuego, at the Salou Center Municipal Sports Pavilion. Admission is free and on a first-come, first-served basis, until full capacity is reached.
In addition, on Sunday, the 6th, the show 'Mou el cos' will take place, by Dàmaris Gelabert, at 5 pm, at the Teatro Auditorio. Tickets will be by invitation, which can be purchased at the Espai d'Infància Estació del Carrilet, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will be necessary to present the Club Xic'S card. The capacity is limited.
Virtual workshops of the Fiesta Mayor will also be shared through the social networks of Club Xic'S, until February 7.
On Monday, February 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Plaza del Carrilet, families will be able to play the Maxijocs-Giant Wooden Games. The capacity is limited.
Youth Initiatives
The Department of Youth has also organized a set of activities aimed at the young group, such as the Fiesta Mayor Salou 2022 TikTok contest. Since the Cós Blanc will not be held this year, they want to motivate young people to make their own videos remembering it. The rules of the contest will be published on Joventut's Instagram, @joventutsalou
Likewise, on Friday, February 4, at 8:00 p.m., in the Europa Room of the TAS, there will be a presentation of the video clip 'La Vida', produced within the program of Estiu y Tardor Jove Masia Tous activities. Next, the Aula de Teatre Jove de la Masia Tous, 'A-scena' will present the play 'Màquina del temps al Cós Blanc'. Admission is free and on a first-come, first-served basis, until full capacity is reached.
On the same day 4, at 10 pm, the Auditorium Theater of Salou will host the Night of Monologues with the performance of comedians and monologues, Tomás García and Juanjo Albiñana. Admission is by invitation, which can be purchased, free of charge, at the TAS offices or at Masia Tous.
On the other hand, on Saturday, the 5th, at 6:00 p.m., the VIII Skateparty will be held, with a graffiti demonstration, in the Manel Albinyana park.
Other activities
Next Thursday, February 3, the 'Tasta Salou' gastronomic days will resume, organized by the Associació d'Empresaris d'Hostaleria (AEH) of Salou, with the collaboration of the Economic Dynamization area. Every Thursday night, starting at 7:00 p.m., you can do a tasting, accompanied by wine or cava, in different restaurants in Salou, for only 5 euros. Participating establishments can be consulted on the Facebook and Instagram page @tastasalou and @saloufoodexperience.
On February 12 and 13, the Fiesta Mayor Trophy will also be held, organized by the Club Nàutic Salou.
In the presentation of the festive program, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has reaffirmed the authentic and genuine character of the Salou Winter Festival, accompanied by the councilors of Cultural Services, Xavier Montalà; Youth, Adolescence, Childhood and Leisure, Julia Gómez; and that of Economic Dynamization, Hèctor Maiquez.
