At the end of the season, the local company
SunClub has made the official opening ceremony of the
hotel CalaVinya, the historic hotel built in 1962 by the
architect Antonio Bonet Castallana, one of the most outstanding Catalan rationalist architects of the 20th century. The mayor of Salou and several councilors have participated in the opening act, in what has also been the
president of the Federation of Business of Hospitality and Tourism of Tarragona (FEHT), Berta Cabré, as well as other representatives of the tourism sector of Salou and the Costa Dorada.
In this new stage, the Hotel CalaVinya opened its doors in June, with the season already advanced, but the owner company has expressed its satisfaction with the reception it has had and the good prospects and potential of the establishment in the future, as explained by the
businessman Albert Savé.
For his part, the
mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the municipality has
a new hotel establishment, and has highlighted
"the uniqueness of this hotel, because it recovers part of the architectural heritage of Salou and its location in Cap Salou and near Cala Vinya, where there was this mail that has now reintroduced the City Council."
The hotel has 100 rooms, with an offer especially aimed at the
adult public, although the complex of the establishment includes an apartment with capacity for 4 people and one child.
The establishment stands out above all for the recovery of
the original rationalist conception, so the CalaVinya hotel has returned to the vision that Bonet Castellana gave it, both in terms of the design of the spaces and the materials used or the furniture of the establishment. Thus, the rehabilitation process has counted on the participation of the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) of Tarragona.
As a result of this process, the Hotel CalaVinya has a permanent exhibition space, and open to everyone, called
Aula de Arquitectura Antonio Bonet Castellana, where the architect's work is reviewed.
