Dir Salou és a dir esport. Amb una infraestructura esportiva envejable amb gairebé 50 instal·lacions, la pràctica de l'esport és inevitable al municipi. A més, és una aposta estratègica de l'Ajuntament per posicionar Salou com a referent en turisme esportiu de la Costa Daurada.

LaLiga and PortAventura World have created a joint venture to create a soccer theme park and offer digital entertainment about this sport. The forecast is to invest 150 million euros in 3 phases, the first of which will be ready for the 2020-2021 football season. The project has been baptized with the name "The Beat Challenge".

Improving the quality of its tourism offer is a primary objective for the City Council and for the Salou Tourism Board, and for this reason this year they have added the Marca Golf label to those that it already had as a Sports Tourism and Family Tourism Destination. The new badge has been achieved thanks to the collaboration with Lumine Golf Club, which brings together 3 golf courses in the surroundings of PortAventura World Parks & Resort.
