Tourism Cambrils rewarded by an application of augmented reality

The Tourist Board of the City of Cambrils was awarded the prize Jordi Cartanyà Tarragona Province in the coastal town category for incorporating in their tourist brochures the Layar reality application . The prize, worth 3,000 euros economically distinguishes tourism promotion material released this year.

The mayor of Cambrils , Mercè Dalmau, picked up the award Thursday, 21st November as part of the XXIV Night of Tourism which was organized by the Council of Tarragona , brought together about 500 people linked to the tourism sector in Costa Dorada and Terres de l´Ebro

The other winners were Solmar Tours, Costa Dorada received the award, and the municipalities of Tortosa and Cornudella del Montsant recognized in the category of interior with the Jordi Cartanyà prize.

The Layar application

Since last January, the City Council has incorporated the Layar application, an innovative tool that allows the user , through its smartphone, to complete with information on the booklet with relief items , volume and movement. With such a simple approach to the implementation guide this recognizes the images and gives several multimedia options , promotions and tourist information. Thus, with a single paper guide can offer a lot of information in a different language to any tourist who is interested in the town .

Among other uses , the tool facilitates interaction with the user with striking information with videos , photos and graphics , and it offers the user direct buttons to send emails or make calls from your mobile.

Moreover, since 2012 Cambrils has available to tourists and visitors the application " Cambrils 24h" , which since 2013 also incorporates augmented reality, with all municipal information of interest and a number of proposals from the private companies that has wanted to be added .
