Salou will diagnose the presence of the tiger mosquito in the municipality

Costa Dorada. 05 October 2018. The City Council of Salou will carry out a diagnosis of the presence of the tiger mosquito in the municipality to subsequently apply an appropriate treatment to eliminate the larvae of the insect. The initial objective is to locate the foci of these larvae and prevent their proliferation. The Councilor for Public Health, Martina Fourrier, pointed out that "we think it would be very interesting if other municipalities also adopted this measure to try to make joint action much more effective, since the subsequent treatment has very high costs".

Although it is true that, in Salou, treatments against mosquitoes are regularly carried out with this diagnosis, what we intend is to have a complete and in-depth study of the 'hot spots'. This diagnosis must begin in the spring but requires specific climatic conditions to develop it rigorously, with no wind or rain, for example.

This year has not been a particularly difficult year, but now, with the increase in rainfall in August along with the high temperatures, the larvae have had adequate conditions for their growth.
