"Pedagogy" campaign on the cost of cleaning dog poop in the municipality

Salou. Costa Dorada. 23 August 2018. Do not pick up a dog excrement from the street or a park, it means a cost for the municipality of 8.58 euros. This data, simple, gives an account of the cost that represents for Salou the cleaning of the poop of these pets. Now, the council aims to raise awareness among the owners of the dogs informing them of this expense that arises from the municipal coffers, with the intention that they withdraw from the road by their owners. The action will be carried out through a team of environmental educators who will flag the places where they find uncollected droppings.

The Councilor for the Environment, Julia Gómez, has ensured that "with this campaign we want to raise awareness among Salouenses and specifically the owners of animals of what it costs to collect a poop unduly left, and incivility that exists in this regard for the bad effect that it has a dirty street and not precisely because it is not cleaned ".

In addition, some information panels have been installed that warn that the fine for not collecting the excrement is 400 euros. During the next few days the citizens will see how the depositions of the street will be marked by informative signs that have been published in five languages ​​(Catalan, Spanish, French, English and German) that will be distributed until the end of October. In this way it is expected that the conscience increases on the obligation to collect the excrements.
