The area surrounding the Marina of Salou will be completely remodeled

Salou. Costa Dorada. 16 January 2018. The Ajuntament de Salou plans an ambitious remodeling of the area near the Yacht Club, the Bonet square and the interconnection between the main promenades of the city. This was stated yesterday in the presentation of the Proposal of Ordination of the port area and the Special Plan of the Sports Port of Salou.
Among the actions that will be carried out is the construction of an underground parking garage that will allow to leave the area of ​​the promenade free. Also the creation of a commercial area in the lower part of the Yacht Club. But it will not only affect mobility and commerce, since a new sailing school is planned that will include a small beach that will allow the entry and exit of boats.

The Special Plan has also studied the relocation of the charters dock and the elimination of the pavilions of the north façade of the Yacht Club to give continuity to the Paseo Jaime I; therefore, once the concession ends this summer of 2018, the current first line constructions would disappear. To complement, we intend to make a series of environmental improvements, such as the remodeling of the Joan Miró Street design, the conservation and expansion of the green areas of the Plaza de Bonet, the restructuring of the existing building, the proposal of the Building Miramar and the design of the Paseo del Dique de Abrigo and the Pier Breakwater to maximize the use and the direct visual relationship on the sea and the beach.

The mayor, Pere Granados, said that "this proposal seeks to take a step forward in the urban quality of Salou in the front line, integrating the port and the city taking full advantage of the connection spaces and betting on sustainability." In addition, this new proposal that is under study and development will reduce light pollution. For the councilman of Territorial Management, Marc Montagut, "the plan aims to improve the functionality of the port, through an increase in security with more surveillance and control of access and proper maintenance of facilities and installing green points of selective collection of waste, and promote environmental education activities for port users ".

On the other hand, this Plan also provides for access to the interior of the Port, both for vehicles, incorporating different accesses from Calle Miramar and Calle Joan Miró; as tourist cruises, moving the boarding area to improve the accessibility and safety of the service; and pedestrian, connecting directly with a new square and with the Pier Pier. In addition, the entire port area will be adapted to people with reduced mobility through ramps.

In 1968, the Town Hall of Salou and Vila-seca granted the Salou Yacht Club the construction of the municipality's marina and the subsequent management of its operation for a term of 50 years, so that in 2018 the municipal concession ends.
