All the streets in Salou are of great interest. We should like to offer you a short tour of the most significant:

 BIBLIOTECA PUBLICA
A two-storey building. Ground floor: reception, reading halls, newspaper archive, archive, work area, storeroom and services. On the first floor there is a second archive, administration, two video rooms and spaces to carry out small tasks. The building leads to a terrace outside overlooking pine trees. The exterior is a combination of screen walls and slabs of concrete. A small group of trees and pavement determine the zone.

The library is situated in C/Ponent no. 16 Tel: 977 388809
  CASA BONET
Modernism in Salou:
Walking along the Paseo de Jaume I, we can see examples of this architectural style that has left such characteristic traces on the houses in the town like, for example, the Voramar Chalet and the Casa Bonet. The latter of the two buildings is the work of the architect Domenech Sugranyes I Gras, a follower of the master, Gaudi, and dates back to the year 1918.
  CENTRE CIVIC
A three-storey building: Groundfloor-1, 1a and 2a. It is distributed into different halls, where a variety of activities and exhibitions are carried out. We can find halls for: Associations, Devil dancing, The Group of Giants, Women’s Group, The association Veins Salaurius”, The association “Amics de l’esmalt”, Contrapunt d’Onades, radio enthusiasts, Photography Group, auditorium etc.
  ESGLESIA DE SANT RAMON
The church is of modern construction, consisting of only one nave and is distinguished for its spaciousness and width. Its current aspect offers us a modern air of interest, not only religious but of great architectural value. Space accompanied by a small chapel dedicated to the Virgin Pilar.
  ESGLESIA DE STA.MARIA DEL MAR
Initially this was a chapel with a single nave and a simple bell tower and belfry and used, above all, by the people of the sea. It was blessed in the year 1766. In different periods, between 1930 and 1950, the church was extended, therefore giving it its present state of appearance. The mural decoration by the artist Joan Garriga is also worth pointing out. This dates back to 1964 and is of the vanguard style.

The church is situated in C/de l’esglesia no. 22. Tel: 977 380173
  FAR DE SALOU
The lighthouse is situated on 10,000m2 of land, with an area of pine trees, gardens and wild vegetation including a viewpoint situated on the cliff. With the exception of the sea facing area, the rest of the land is enclosed by a stone wall. It is one of the most important lighthouses along the Tarragona coast. It has three important functions: The first being the light, which can be seen from a distance of 20 miles and is used to guide boats. The second is its radar frequencies. And the third and most recent, is the GPS – detection of boats by the means of satellites.
  FONT LLUMINOSA

This fountain is situated at the end of the Paseo Jaume I, and, during the summer, permits us to see a spectacular show of water and lights. The fountain is the work of the architect Carles Buigas, who is also the author of the Montjuic Fountain in Barcelona.
 MASIA CATALANA
The Masia Catalana is situated in Carles Buigas Street, number 50, and is of a relatively modern construction – 1974. Traditional materials were used in its construction, which evoke a truly rural ambit. The visitor can not only contemplate a diverse range of farming tools, but also the farm animals which were to be found in the traditional farmhouse of the time. Even the water wheel, where a donkey toils to extract water for the kitchen garden.
In summer a handicraft and craftsman market is held and during the Christmas season a real life nativity scene is represented with the traditional “caga tio”.

La Masia Catalana can be found at Avda Carles Buigas, 50
  MONUMENT A JAUME I

The monument is situated in the centre of the Paseo de Jaume I. It was erected in 1965 in memory of King James I, who sailed from the port of Salou in 1229, to conquer Majorca, and at that time was in power of the “sarrainos”. It is a work of the architect Ripoll and the sculptor Saumells.

 PARC DE SALOU
The park in Salou is situated in the Carles Buigas Street. Some years before this site was occupied by a campsite. It has been, however, transformed into a park for the public, with numerous pine trees, plants and flowers – an ideal place to take a pleasurable walk or rest for a moment. During the summer months several activities take place.

  PASEO JAIME I
The emblematic promenade of Salou is more than a kilometre long and coincides in length with the Levante Beach. A characteristic of The Paseo Jaime I is its palm trees which line the promenade from one end to the other and also the wide variety of flowers and plants. On the mosaic, which decorates the ground, we can find a series of heraldic shields of some of the noblemen who accompanied King James I to Majorca. The area between the promenade and the beach provides all the necessary facilities and services, as well as flower gardens and fountains - ideal for taking a leisurely stroll.

  PASEO MIRAMAR
This promenade joins Salou to Cambrils and runs parallel to the West Side (Poniente) beach. It is also lined with palm trees and enables us to reach Cambrils on foot and at the same time, contemplate the proximity of the beach.

  TORRE VELLA

This tower was built in the year 1530 as a watch and defence tower in order to protect Salou from the constant raids of pirates and privateers. It was built to the order of the archbishop of Tarragona, Pere de Cardona in the old district of Barenys. At present the tower is a cultural centre offering a selected programme of art exhibitions, which fills its rooms with art from Easter to the month of October. You can find one of Aldoma Puig’s sculptures in the gardens, “The Dansa de les Gracies”, which represents three young ladies dancing “sardanas” – a traditional Catalan dance. This work was erected in 1990 due to Salou being appointed the Town of the Sardana.
La Torre Vella, besides showing seasonal exhibitions of art, is also the site of the Municipal Museum of Contemporary Enamel (MECS), where one can contemplate an extremely representative collection of enamels of the most diverse techniques and tendencies of authors world-wide.

La Torre Vella can be found at: C/Arquebisbe Pere de Cardona, 1

  XALET TORREMAR
The Xalet Torremar forms part of the complex of houses built for holidaymakers in Salou between the twenties and forties. It is a two-storey building with gardens and currently accommodates the Tourist Board of Salou, where a variety of protocol acts are carried out. In its interior two modernist turrets, from the original decoration, of considerable dimensions still stand.
